Mitsunobu reaction of phenol 58 with cyclooctane methanol gave 2-(3-(3-(cyclooctylmethoxy)phenyl)propyl)isoindoline-1,3-dione as yellow oil. Yield (0.920 g, 65%): 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 7.80-7.86 (m, 2H), 7.68-7.73 (m, 2H), 7.10-7.13 (m, 1H), 6.72-6.79 (m, 2H), 6.64-6.68 (m, 1H), 3.65 (d, J=6.4 Hz, 2H), 2.64 (t, J=7.6 Hz, 2H), 1.98-2.06 (m, 4H), 1.65-1.78 (m, 7H), 1.56-1.64 (m, 5H), 1.30-1.40 (m, 3H).
