일반 설명

Liquid. Less dense than water and insoluble in water. Hence floats on water.

Class 9
화재 위험Special Hazards of Combustion Products: May contain acrid smoke and fumes including toxic acrylic acid, one of the most serious eye injury chemcials and a severe skin irritant.Behavior in Fire: It may decompose to yield acrid smoke and fumes. (USCG, 1999)Combustible.
건강 유해성INHALATION: Higher concentrations may cause pronounced pulmonary irritation or edema. Prolonged contact may cause severe damage to tissues. May be fatal if swallowed or absorbed through skin. (USCG, 1999)
유해성 요약A severe skin, eye, and respiratory tract irritantAcrylates cause skin sensitization, but no data on this substance[ICSC] A skin irritant and sensitizerHarmful if inhaled[MSDSonline]
반응성 그룹Acrylates and Acrylic AcidsPolymerizable Compounds

TSCA 요건Section 8(a) of TSCA requires manufacturers of this chemical substance to report preliminary assessment information concerned with production, use, and exposure to EPA as cited in the preamble of the 51 FR 41329.
FIFRA 요건/Polymers of acrylic acid esters/ are exempted from the requirements of a tolerance when used in accordance with good agricultural practice as inert (or occasionally active) ingredients in pesticide formulations applied to growing crops only.
Reactivity AlertsHighly FlammablePolymerizable
Reactivity ProfileN-DECYL ACRYLATE reacts exothermically with acids to give n-decyl alcohol and acrylic acid. May react vigorous with strong oxidizing acids and generate enough heat to ignite the reaction products. Interaction with caustic solutions also generates heat. Incompatible with alkali metals and hydrides. Polymerizes readily in the presence of heat and light generating much heat. [Handling Chemicals Safely, 1980. p. 250]. Burns to give acrid smoke and fumes that contain toxic acrylic acid, one of the most serious eye injury chemcials and a severe skin irritant.
DOT Hazard ClassificationDecyl acrylateMarine pollutant
소화Fire Extinguishing Agents: Small fires: dry chemical, CO2, water spray or foamlarge fires: water spray, fog or foam. (USCG, 1999)Use water spray, powder, alcohol-resistant foam, carbon dioxide.
응급 조치Fresh air, rest.Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower.First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then refer for medical attention.Rinse mouth. Give one or two glasses of water to drink. Refer for medical attention .
응급 처치INHALATION: Move victim to fresh air. If breathing has stopped, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen.EYES OR SKIN: immediately flush with running water for at least 15 min.hold eyelids open if necessary. Wash skin with soap and water.INGESTION: if conscious, give victim several glasses of water and induce vomiting. If unconscious or having convulsions, do nothing except keep victim warm. (USCG, 1999)
소화 절차Water or foam may cause frothing ... .
보관 조건The effectiveness of phenolic inhibitors is dependent on the presence of oxygen and the monomers must be stored under air rather than an inert atmosphere. Temp must be kept low to minimize formation of peroxides and other products. ... The acrylic esters may be stored in mild or stainless steel, or aluminum. /Acrylic acid & derivatives/
비화재 누출 대응Neutralizing Agents for Acids and Caustics: Not appl (USCG, 1999)
처리 방법SRP: At the time of review, criteria for land treatment or burial (sanitary landfill) disposal practices are subject to significant revision. Prior to implementing land disposal of waste residue (including waste sludge), consult with environmental regulatory agencies for guidance on acceptable disposal practices.
누출 처리Personal protection: protective clothing. Collect leaking and spilled liquid in covered containers as far as possible.
Preventive MeasuresAwareness of the dangers and of good engineering design are essential to safety. Employees should be instructed about the necessity of cleansing the skin if it is contaminated by materials which are irritants or skin-absorbed. With careful design, however, and complete enclosure of those processes where toxic chemicals or intermediates occur, dangerous exposures can be avoided. /Acrylic acid & derivatives/SRP: Contaminated protective clothing should be segregated in such a manner so that there is no direct personal contact by personnel who handle, dispose, or clean the clothing. Quality assurance to ascertain the completeness of the cleaning procedures should be implemented before the decontaminated protective clothing is returned for reuse by the workers. Contaminated clothing should not be taken home at end of shift, but should remain at employee's place of work for cleaning.SRP: The scientific literature for the use of contact lenses in industry is conflicting. The benefit or detrimental effects of wearing contact lenses depend not only upon the substance, but also on factors including the form of the substance, characteristics and duration of the exposure, the uses of other eye protection equipment, and the hygiene of the lenses. However, there may be individual substances whose irritating or corrosive properties are such that the wearing of contact lenses would be harmful to the eye. In those specific cases, contact lenses should not be worn. In any event, the usual eye protection equipment should be worn even when contact lenses are in place.
Isolation and EvacuationExcerpt from ERG Guide 171 [Substances (Low to Moderate Hazard)]:IMMEDIATE PRECAUTIONARY MEASURE: Isolate spill or leak area in all directions for at least 50 meters (150 feet) for liquids and at least 25 meters (75 feet) for solids.SPILL: Increase the immediate precautionary measure distance, in the downwind direction, as necessary.FIRE: If tank, rail tank car or highway tank is involved in a fire, ISOLATE for 800 meters (1/2 mile) in all directionsalso, consider initial evacuation for 800 meters (1/2 mile) in all directions. (ERG, 2024)
Eye PreventionWear safety goggles or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.
Fire PreventionNO open flames.
유해 작용Skin Sensitizer - An agent that can induce an allergic reaction in the skin.
노출 경로The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its aerosol and by ingestion.
