Reactivity ProfileISOPHORONEDIAMINE is an amine. Amines are chemical bases. They neutralize acids to form salts. These acid-base reactions are exothermic. The amount of heat that is evolved per mole of amine in a neutralization is largely independent of the strength of the amine as a base. Amines may be incompatible with isocyanates, halogenated organics, peroxides, phenols (acidic), epoxides, anhydrides, and acid halides (Roger Patrick, DuPont Engineer). Corrodes aluminum and steel in the presence of moisture and carbon dioxide (USCG, 1999).
Chemical DangersDecomposes on heating and on burning. This produces toxic and corrosive gases including nitrogen oxides. Attacks copper, zinc and tin alloys.
Packaging and LabellingUnbreakable packaging. Put breakable packaging into closed unbreakable container. Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.
소화Excerpt from ERG Guide 153 [Substances - Toxic and/or Corrosive (Combustible)]:Use water spray, powder, alcohol-resistant foam, carbon dioxide. In case of fire: keep drums, etc., cool by spraying with water.

TSCA Test SubmissionsIsophorone diamine (CAS # 2855-13-2) was evaluated for subchronic inhalation toxicity in male rats (10/dosage group, breed unspecified) administered whole-body exposures to nominal aerosol/vapor concentrations of 18, 200, and 550 mg/cu m, 6 hours/day for 9, 9, and 4 days, respectively. Following 9 exposures, 5 rats from each group (surviving numbers allowing) were sacrificed and necropsied, while the remaining were sacrificed after a subsequent 20-day recovery period. Treatment with 550 mg/m3 was associated with significantly reduced bodyweights and mean bodyweight gains and mortality (4/10) by completion of a fourth exposure, such that all surviving rats (6/10) of this group were sacrificed and necropsied with decedents following the fourth exposure. Dose-dependent histopathology was identified in the nose (18, 200, 550 mg/cu m), trachea (200, 550 mg/cu m), larynx (200, 500 mg/cu m), and lungs (200, 550 mg/cu m). Necrosis as well as hypertrophy/hyperplasia noted in the lungs and trachea of 4-day 550 mg/cu m rats and 9-day rats appeared resolved after 20-day recovery, as tissue repair was also apparent in the nose and larynx of these animals. The study report is summarized only and no further data are provided.

용도

개요

Isophorone diamine is widely used as an epoxy-resin hardener. It is a strong sensitizer and can cause airborne contact dermatitis.

용도

Isophorondiamine mainly used as epoxy curing agents, mainly for applications requiring low color, low odor, high flexural strength and excellent chemical resistance of epoxy formulations. Suitable for floor coatings, fillers and paving mixes.

일반 설명

A clear to light-yellow liquid. Highly soluble though slightly denser than water. May be toxic by inhalation and skin absorption. Corrosive to skin. Used to make other chemicals.

제조 및 합성 방법

생산 방법

Isophorondiamine is made from isophorone nitrile, ammonia, and hydrogen, which leads to simultaneous imination and hydrogenation of the resulting imine and nitrile groups. Catalysts employed are mainly cobalt or ruthenium.
