일반 설명Colestipol (Colestid) is ahigh–molecular-weight, insoluble, granular copolymer oftetraethylenepentamine and epichlorohydrin. It functions asan anion-exchange, resin-sequestering agent in a manner similarto that of cholestyramine resin. Colestipol hydrochloridereduces cholesterol levels without affecting triglycerides andseems to be especially effective in the treatment of type IIhyperlipoproteinemias.

정의ChEBI: The hydrochloride of colestipol, a highly cross-linked, high molecular weight copolymer of diethylenetriamine and epichlorohydrin (hydrochloride), with approximately 1 out of 5 amine nitrogens protonated. It is used for binding bile acids in the intestine, inhibiting their reabsorption.
