Moricizine hydrochloride blocks the rapid flow of sodium ions into the myocardial cell during phase 0 of the action potential. This decreases excitability, slows the impulse conduction through the atrioventricular (AV) node and depresses depolarization.

Agents used for the treatment or prevention of cardiac arrhythmias. They may affect the polarization-repolarization phase of the action potential, its excitability or refractoriness, or impulse conduction or membrane responsiveness within cardiac fibers. Anti-arrhythmia agents are often classed into four main groups according to their mechanism of action: sodium channel blockade, beta-adrenergic blockade, repolarization prolongation, or calcium channel blockade.
A class of drugs that inhibit the activation of VOLTAGE-GATED SODIUM CHANNELS.
개요Moricizine hydrochloride is a phenothiazine derivative with antiarrhythmic activity developed by the Soviet Academy of Medical Sciences. It is licensed to Dupont-Sanko in a joint venture. Moricizine hydrochloride is the first drug licensed to a U.S. company by the Soviet Union and was introduced by Dupont in the U.S. in 1990 for specific use in Iife-threatening ventricular arrhythmias. This narrow indication reflects its proarrhythmic potential. The incidence of this adverse reaction, however, is lower than that of other antiarrhythmic agents.
용도Cardiac depressant (anti-arrhythmic).
