SYMPTOMS: Symptoms of exposure to this compound include dryness of mouth, loss of accommodation, dilated pupils, photophobia, increased intraocular pressures, difficulty in swallowing, thirst, flushing and dryness of the skin, transient bradycardia followed by tachycardia with palpitations and arrhythmias, urinary retention, reduction in the tone and motility of the gastrointestinal tract leading to constipation, vomiting, giddiness, staggering, retrosternal pain due to increased gastric reflux, rapid or stertorous respiration, hyperpyrexia restlessness, confusion, excitement, hallucinations, delirium and rash on the face and upper trunk. Severe exposure may cause central nervous system depression with hypertension or with circulatory failure and respiratory depression. There have been cases of dizziness, involuntary jerky movements of the limbs, nervous movements and burning sensation in the throat. Other symptoms of exposure include blurred vision, cyanosis, mydriasis with absent light reflex, coma, clonic convulsions, respiratory arrest and alarming disturbances in cardiac mechanisms. In young children, exposure can cause severe intoxication and death. Glaucoma and widely dilated unreactive pupils have been reported. Symptoms of exposure to this type of compound include lethargy, drowsiness, fatigue, hypnosis, vertigo, ataxia, tinnitus, central nervous system hyperexcitability, sedation, tremors, anxiety, insomnia, toxic psychoses, gastrointestinal disturbances, anorexia, nausea, abdominal distress, diarrhea and pulmonary edema. Other symptoms of exposure to this type of compound include headache, nervousness, disorientation, stupor, hyperreflexia, nystagmus and hyperthermia.

Agents used in the treatment of Parkinson's disease. The most commonly used drugs act on the dopaminergic system in the striatum and basal ganglia or are centrally acting muscarinic antagonists.
A heterogeneous group of drugs used to produce muscle relaxation, excepting the neuromuscular blocking agents. They have their primary clinical and therapeutic uses in the treatment of muscle spasm and immobility associated with strains, sprains, and injuries of the back and, to a lesser degree, injuries to the neck. They have been used also for the treatment of a variety of clinical conditions that have in common only the presence of skeletal muscle hyperactivity, for example, the muscle spasms that can occur in MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS. (From Smith and Reynard, Textbook of Pharmacology, 1991, p358)
Agents that inhibit the actions of the parasympathetic nervous system. The major group of drugs used therapeutically for this purpose is the MUSCARINIC ANTAGONISTS.
Drugs that bind to but do not activate MUSCARINIC RECEPTORS, thereby blocking the actions of endogenous ACETYLCHOLINE or exogenous agonists. Muscarinic antagonists have widespread effects including actions on the iris and ciliary muscle of the eye, the heart and blood vessels, secretions of the respiratory tract, GI system, and salivary glands, GI motility, urinary bladder tone, and the central nervous system.
Drugs and compounds which inhibit or antagonize the biosynthesis or actions of CYTOCHROME P-450 CYP2B6.

EYES: First check the victim for contact lenses and remove if present. Flush victim's eyes with water or normal saline solution for 20 to 30 minutes while simultaneously calling a hospital or poison control center. Do not put any ointments, oils, or medication in the victim's eyes without specific instructions from a physician. IMMEDIATELY transport the victim after flushing eyes to a hospital even if no symptoms (such as redness or irritation) develop.
SMALL SPILLS AND LEAKAGE: If you spill this chemical, you should dampen the solid spill material with water, then transfer the dampened material to a suitable container. Use absorbent paper dampened with water to pick up any remaining material. Seal your contaminated clothing and the absorbent paper in a vapor-tight plastic bag for eventual disposal. Wash all contaminated surfaces with a soap and water solution. Do not reenter the contaminated area until the Safety Officer (or other responsible person) has verified that the area has been properly cleaned.
RECOMMENDED RESPIRATOR: Where the neat test chemical is stored, weighed and diluted, wear an approved half face respirator equipped with an organic vapor/acid gas cartridge (specific for organic vapors, HCl, acid gas and SO2) with a dust/mist filter. (NTP, 1992)
