1-Cyclopentanecarbonyl-3-trifluoromethyl-5,6-dihydro-8H-imidazo[1,5-a]pyrazine-7-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester 28a (0.1 g, 0.258 mmol) was dissolved in a little ethyl acetate under stirring. A solution of 2.7 N hydrochloric acid in 5 mL of ethyl acetate was then added. The reaction mixture was reacted at room temperature for 2 hours and monitored by thin layer chromatography until the disappearance of the starting materials. The reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure to obtain the title compound cyclopentyl-(3-trifluoromethyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-imidazo[1,5-a]pyrazin-1-yl)-methanone 28b, which was directly used in the next step.
