According to the general procedure B, 2-tert-butylbromobenzene (213 mg, 1.00 mmol) reacted with N,N-di-n-butylamine (130 mg, 1.00 mmol) using 1 mol % of catalyst and sodium tert-butoxide (115 mg, 1.20 mmol) at 60° C. to give the title compound (233 mg, 89%) as an oil: 1H-NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3): δ 7.25 (d, 2H, J=8.7 Hz), 6.62 (d, 2H, J=8.7 Hz), 3.25 (t, 4H, J=7.2 and 8.1 Hz), 1.58 (m, 4H), 1.35 (M, 4H), 1.30 (s, 9H), 0.97 (t, 6H, J=7.2 Hz). 13C{1H}-NMR (100 MHz, CDCl3): δ 146.01, 137.59, 125.92, 111.29, 50.84, 33.61, 31.56, 29.53, 20.39, 14.02. GC/MS(EI): m/z 261 (M+).
