Procedure

Beginning with 3.0 gm (28.0 mMol) 6-methyl-1H-indole and 7.04 gm (45.7 mMol) 4-piperidone hydrochloride monohydrate, 1.1 gm (22%) of the title compound were recovered as a tan powder.
