The title compound (1.06 g, 43%) was prepared as a pale yellow liquid from 2-(phenoxazin-10-yl)ethyl methanesulfonate (1.8 g, 5.9 mmol) and ethyl 2-hydroxy-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)propanoate (1.36 g, 6.49 mmol) by an analogous procedure to that described in example 6 (Method B).
