9.3 g of tetrabromomethane and 7.4 g of triphenyl phosphine were added at −15° C. to a solution of 5.52 g of the product of Step B in 55 ml of methylene chloride and the reaction mixture was stirred for one hour at 0° C., then chromatographed on silica (eluant: ethyl acetate-cyclohexane 7-3) to obtain 6.22 g of the expected product.
