Using an analogous procedure to that described in Example 2, 2-[4-(6-fluoroquinolin-4-yloxy)-2-methoxyphenyl]propionic acid was reacted with 3-amino-4,5-dimethylisoxazole. The resultant mixture was evaporated and the residue was purified by preparative HPLC using a Waters ‘Xterra’ reversed-phase column (5 microns silica, 30 mm diameter, 150 mm length) using decreasingly polar mixtures of water (containing 0.2% ammonium carbonate) and acetonitrile as eluent. There was thus obtained the title compound as a solid in 11% yield; 1H NMR: (DMSOd6) 1.43 (s, 3H), 1.77 (s, 3H), 2.3 (s, 3H), 3.81 (s, 3H), 4.16 (q, 1H), 6.72 (d, 1H), 6.87 (m, 1H), 7.0 (d, 1H), 7.4 (d, 1H), 7.75 (m, 1H), 7.97 (m, 1H), 8.12 (m, 1H), 8.7 (d, 1H), 10.16 (s, 1H); Mass Spectrum: M+H+ 436.
