6 ml of triethyl phosphite are added to a suspension of 10 g N-(4-bromomethyl-3-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-2,2,2-trifluoro-acetamide (obtainable according to WO 2005051366) in 60 ml of toluene. The mixture obtained is stirred for 18 hours at reflux, allowed to cool to rt and concentrated. The concentrate obtained is triturated in Et2O. [4-(2,2,2-Trifluoro-acetylamino)-2-trifluoromethyl-benzyl]-phosphonic acid diethyl ester is obtained in the form of a solid: ES-MS: 406.0 [M−H]−; tR=4.41 min (System 1).
