Reaction Steps
9.94 g of the compound [88-1] was dissolved in 100 mL of tetrahydrofuran and 20 mL of methanol, 799 mg of sodium borohydride was added thereto at room temperature, and the mixture was stirred at the same temperature for 2.5 hours. To the reaction mixture, water was added, and the mixture was extracted with chloroform. The obtained organic layer was dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate. Then, the insolubles were filtered, and the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure. The obtained residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (eluent: hexane/ethyl acetate=100/0 to 30/70) to obtain 632 mg of tert-butyl ((1S)-1-{4-[[1-(diphenyl methyl)azetidin-3-yl](hydroxy)methyl]phenyl}ethyl)carbamate [88-2] (hereinafter, referred to as the compound [88-2]).
