Procedure
To a solution of N2-(2-cyclopropylethyl)-9-(tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-yl)-9H-purine-2,6-diamine (4.17 g) in chloroform (46.0 ml) at 0° C., was added N-bromosuccinimide (2.58 g) to give a dark green suspension. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1 h. The reaction mixture was taken up in dichloromethane (100 ml) and washed with water (1×100 ml). The organic layer was separated, dried by passing through a hydrophobic frit and concentrated in vacuo to give a green gum (5.50 g, 80% pure).
