Procedure

Ethyl 1-ethynyl-2-naphthoate was prepared in a similar manner to 1-ethynyl-2-methylnaphthalene, except that 1-bromo-2-methylnaphthalene was replaced by ethyl 1-bromo-2-naphthoate.
