Procedure

Compound 496 (0.07 g, 0.15 mmol) was dissolved in pyridine (0.4 mL) and ethanolamine (0.011 mL, 0.18 mmol) was added. The solution was kept at room temperature for 1 h after which it was concentrated in vacuo. The residue was dissolved in EtOAc and H2O and the phases were separated. The water phase was extracted with EtOAc (×2) and the combined organic phases were washed with brine, dried (MgSO4), filtered and concentrated in vacuo. The crude product was purified by flash chromatography using a gradient of EtOAc/petroleum ether (40-60) 3:7→1:0 as the eluent. This afforded the title compound as a solid. 13C NMR (CD3OD) δ 196.5, 161.2 (dd), 158.0 (dd), 151.9, 143.3, 142.0, 139.5, 136.5, 135.2, 133.2, 129.9, 128.2, 127.8, 127.8 (dd), 125.7 (dd), 116.5, 113.1, 112.7 (dd), 105.8 (dd), 61.8, 46.3, 20.3
