To a stirred mixture of 7-(2-fluorophenyl)pyrazolo[1,5-d][1,2,4]triazin-2-ol (0.5014 g, 2.18 mmol) in glacial acetic acid (10 ml) was added dropwise a 1.0 M solution of iodine monochloride in glacial acetic acid (3.26 ml, 3.26 mmol) and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for a total of 1.25 h. Water (40 ml) was then added and the resulting solid was collected by filtration, washed with water, and dried under vacuum at 60° C. to yield 0.7345 g (95%) of the title compound as a pale brown solid; 1H NMR (360 MHz, d6 -DMSO) δ 7.42-7.49 (2H, m), 7.71 (1H, m), 7.79 (1H, m), 9.26 (1H, s), 12.48 (1H, s); MS (ES+) m/e 357 [MH]+.
