To (3-carbamoyl-2-cyclohexylmethoxy-6,7,8,9-tetrahydro-5H-benzocyclohepten-5-yl)-carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (0.60 g, 144 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (8 mL) was added TFA (2 mL). The mixture was stirred for 1 h, evaporated under a stream of N2, diluted with CH2Cl2 and washed with 1 N NaOH. The organic layer was dried over magnesium sulfate and concentrated to a tan solid (0.45 g, 99%). MS [M+H]+ 316, m.p. 170-172° C.
