700 mg of 4′-(4-chloro-5-formyl-2-phenylimidazol-1-ylmethyl)biphenyl-2-sulfonamide (Example 11 b) and 620 mg of NaOH were dissolved in 10 ml of methanol and heated under reflux for 1 hour. The solvent was removed in vacuo, the residue was taken up with 20 ml of water, the solution was adjusted to pH=7 using aqueous HCl solution and the precipitate was filtered off. It was dried in vacuo, and 650 mg of a colorless solid were obtained,
