Procedure

To a cold (0° C.) solution of 4-[5-(1-methyl-1H-[1,2,4]triazol-3-yl)-thiophen-2-yl]-1,2,3,6-tetrahydro-pyridine (7BW) (1.5 g, 4.72 mmol) in dichloromethane (50 ml) was added TEA (4.5 ml, 28.32 mmol) dropwise. After stirred at 0° C. for 10 min, chloroacetyl chloride (1.12 ml, 14.2 mmol) was added to the reaction mixture. The resulting mixture was stirred at 0° C. for 1 hr., and quenched with water (15.6 ml). The reaction mixture was diluted with dichloromethane (200 ml). The organic layer was separated and washed with brine, dried over MgSO4. Reaction mixture was concentrated to ˜50 ml, ether was added and the solid was filtered out to get the desired product (8BW).
