Coupling of 3,4,4-trimethylpent-1-yn-3-ol with bromide 10 in a 1:1 mixture of DMF and triethylamine gave 2,2,2-trifluoro-N-(3-(3-(3-hydroxy-3,4,4-trimethylpent-1-ynyl)phenyl)propyl)acetamide as an orange oil. Yield (0.84 g, 73%): 1H NMR (400 MHz, CD3OD) δ 7.15-7.25 (m, 4H), 3.29 (t, J=7.2 Hz, 2H), 2.61 (t, J=8.0 Hz, 2H), 1.86 (quint, J=7.6 Hz, 2H), 1.49 (s, 3H), 1.09 (br s, 9H).
