Reaction Steps
To a solution of ethyl 6-chloro-7-(4-(4-chlorophenethylcarbamoyl)-2-methylphenoxy)chroman-4-carboxylate (0.022 g, 0.042 mmol) in 3:1 THF/ethanol (2 ml) was added 1M sodium hydroxide (0.087 ml, 0.087 mmol). The reaction was stirred overnight and then concentrated. The residue was taken up in water and acidified with 1M hydrochloric acid and extracted twice with EtOAc. The combined organic layers were washed with saturated sodium chloride, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, filtered, and concentrated. The crude material was purified by preparatory thin layer chromatography eluting with 95:5:1 dichloromethane/methanol/glacial acetic acid to yield 11 mg of the title compound (53% yield).
