A 500-mL Parr hydrogenation bottle was charged with 125e (2.3 g, 10.9 mmol), 10% palladium on carbon (50% wet, 570 mg dry weight) and ethanol (100 mL). The bottle was evacuated, charged with hydrogen gas to a pressure of 50 psi and shaken for 2 h on a Parr hydrogenation apparatus. The catalyst was removed by filtration through a pad of CELITE® 521 washing with 1:1 CH2Cl2:MeOH (500 mL). The resulting solution was concentrated under reduced pressure to afford a 95% yield (1.9 g) of crude 125f.
