Procedure

A mixture of 300 mg of 2,6,8-trichloro-4-phenylquinazoline (compound No. Ia1-12), 30 g of an aqueous 28% ammonia solution and 6 ml of acetonitrile was reacted at 105° C. for 1.5 hours in a pressure-resistant reaction vessel. The resulting reaction solution was cooled and then poured into 100 ml of water. The mixture was extracted with 60 ml of ethyl acetate and the resultant extract was concentrated. The resulting residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (chloroform) to obtain 230 mg of the titled compound. Mp.212.7° C. 1H NMR (CDCl3): 5.56 (2H, br. s), 7.54-7.60 (3H, m), 7.63-7.68 (2H, m), 7.74 (1H, d, J=2.3 Hz), 7.79 (1H, d, J=2.3 Hz).
