A solution of 4-[4-(6-dimethylamino-1-oxo-1,3-dihydro-isoindol-2-yl)-phenyl]-butyric acid (35.5 mg, 1.03 mM) obtained in Example 38 in THF (7 ml) was added with methyl iodide (1.2 ml), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 60 hours. The deposit was collected by filtration and dried to obtain {2-[4-(3-carboxy-propyl)-phenyl]-3-oxo-2,3-dihydro-1H-isoindol-5-yl}-dimethyl-ammonium iodide (Compound 32) as a colored powdery substance (34.5 mg, yield: 68.5%).
