Procedure

To a solution of 2-(1H-imidazol-5-yl)aniline (18 mg, 0.113 mmol) in dichloromethane (3 mL) was added pyridine (47 μL, 0.339 mmol) and acetyl chloride (19 μL, 0.271 mmol). The reaction was stirred at room temperature for 16 h. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure. The crude product was dissolved in methanol (4 mL) and refluxed for 2 h. The solution was concentrated and the residue was purified by flash column chromatography (silica gel, 5%-30% MeOH/DCM as eluent) to afford the desired product as a white solid (10 mg, 0.050 mmol, 44%). 1H NMR (MeOH-d4): 2.17 (s, 3H), 7.05-7.26 (m, 2H), 7.46 (s, 1H), 7.62 (d, 1H, J=7.8 Hz), 7.78 (s, 1H), 8.18 (s, 1H).
