Reaction Steps

To a solution of 4-(benzyloxy)-2-(1H-imidazol-5-yl)phenol (0.488 mmol) in DMF (5 mL) was added triethylamine (0.585 mmol). After stirring for 10 min, chlorotriphenylmethane (0.512 mmol) was added and continued stirring for 16 h. The reaction mixture was diluted with water (25 mL) and the precipitated product was filtered and washed with water (3×10 mL). The solid cake was dissolved in CH2Cl2, washed with water, brine and dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated under reduced pressure to afford the crude product. The crude was purified by column chromatography to afford the final product (0.230 g, 47%).
