To a solution of N1-[4-(2-Benzyloxy-4-ethylphenoxy)-3-fluorophenyl]propan-1,3-diamine (60 mg, 0.15 mmol) in 10 ml of dry dichloromethane, cooled to 0° C., was added acetic anhydride (20 mg, 0.19 mmol) taken in 0.5 ml of dichloromethane dropwise. The reaction mixture was warmed to rt and stirred for 1 h until reaction was complete on TLC. The reaction mixture was diluted with water and the layers separated. The aqueous layer was extracted with dichloromethane and the combined dichloromethane fraction was dried over anhydrous Na2SO4 and concentrated. The crude residue obtained was column purified over silica gel using 2% methanol in dichloromethane as eluant to get 50 mg, 75.4% of title compound.
