Reaction Steps

Following the procedure of Example 5(c) 2,6-bis(4-cyano phenoxy)-nicotinic acid 1.25 g (3.5 mmol) and piperazine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (0.65 g, 3.5 mmol) were used to afford 1.2 g of the required product. Percentage purity (LCMS): 95.6%, (M+1)=525.2 (with BOC). 1H NMR (DMSO-d6): δ 1.40 (9H, s), 3.30 (2H, m), 3.42 (4H, m), 3.61 (2H, m), 6.98 (1H, d), 7.35 (4H, m), 7.82 (4H, dd), 8.02 (2H, d).
