25.6 g of trans-4-aminocyclohexane carboxylic acid was suspended in 150 mL of methanol, and 15.7 mL of thionyl chloride was added dropwise thereto under ice-cooling. After stirring at room temperature for 5 hours, the reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure and the residue was suspended in diisopropyl ether. The precipitate was collected by filtration to obtain 34.0 g of methyl trans-4-aminocyclohexane carboxylate hydrochloride as a white solid.
