2-{4-[3-(2-Methyl-pyrrolidin-1-yl)-cyclopentyl]-phenyl}-1-oxo-2,8-diaza-spiro[4.5]decane-8-carboxyl ic acid tert-butyl ester (example 3) (22 mg, 0.044 mmol) was treated with 4 M HCl (0.5 mL, 2 mmol, excess) in dioxane and methanol (0.5 mL) at rt for 4 h when TLC (10% MeOH in DCM) showed the reaction was complete. The volatiles were removed in vacuo and the residue was dried under high vacuum for 2 h to obtain 20 mg (100% yield) of the title compound as a gummy solid.
