Procedure
3.96 g of the 4,4'-dimethoxybenzophenone O-(1-cyano-3-ethoxycarbonylpropyl)oxime was dissolved in 20 ml of dioxane and 3 mil of a 5 N aqueous solution of caustic soda was added thereto. Then the mixture was allowed to react at 20 C. for five hours. After the completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was acidified and extracted with ethyl acetate. Thus 3.6 g of the title compound was obtained in the form of a colorless oily product.
