Ethylchloroformate (0.75 ml) was added dropwise to a solution of 4,5-dihydro-1-phenyl-N-(3-pyridinyl)-1H-pyrazol-3-amine (1.66 g) and triethylamine (2.85 ml) in tetrahydrofuran (150 ml) at -45° under N2. The solution was allowed to warm to room temperature and stirred for 24 hours. The solution was filtered, evaporated to dryness, and the residue chromatographed on silica gel eluting with ethyl acetate in dichloromethane to give an oil which crystallised on triturating with ether. The solid was recrystallised from ether and petrol to give the title compound (0.66 g) mp 110°-12° (dec).
