Reaction Steps

A solution of methylthioacetyl derivative from Step 4 (140 mg) in AcOH (1 mL) and conc. HCl (1 mL) was stirred at r.t. 18 hr. The reaction mixture was diluted with Et2O, washed with H2O (2×), saturated NaHCO3 solution, brine, dried over MgSO4 and the solvent evaporated. The residue was flash chromatographed, eluting with hexane:EtOAc:CH2Cl2 (85:15:50) to afford the title compound as a foam.
