Procedure
Methoxyacetyl chloride (1.03 g) in dry toluene (10 cm3) was added dropwise to a stirred solution of N-(2-dimethylphosphinothioylethyl)-2-benzylthio-2-methylpropylamine (3 g) and pyridine (1.2 cm3) in dry toluene (70 cm3) at 0° C. After stirring for 1 h the mixture was filtered and the volatile components removed under reduced pressure (40° C. at 0.05 mmHg) to give the amide (2.4 g, 65%) as a yellow oil which solidified on standing. An analytically pure sample of the amide (m.p. 91°-92° C.) was obtained by recrystallisation from ethyl acetate.
