4-Fluorobenzoyl chloride (0.15 mL, 1.30 mmol) was added to 5-bromo-4-fluoro-1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridin-3-amine (200 mg, 0.87 mmol, Example 1, Step H) in pyridine (5 mL). The reaction was stirred at room temperature for 10 minutes, and then the pyridine was removed. THF (5 mL) and 2N LiOH (3 mL) were added and stirred for 20 minutes. The THF was removed, and water (20 mL) was added. The solid formed was collected by filtration and dried to give N-(5-bromo-4-fluoro-1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridin-3-yl)-4-fluorobenzamide (0.24 g, 77% yield) as a solid.
