Procedure

To a solution of Example 236A (60 mg, 161 mmol) in dichloroethane (0.5 mL) was add chloroethyl carbonochloridate (39.1 mg, 0.273 mmol). The mixture was heated for 2 hours at 85° C. Methanol (2 mL) was added, and the mixture cooled to room temperature. The solution was concentrated and NaOH (1 M, aqueous) was added until pH=10. The product was extracted with ethyl acetate. Purification via flash chromatography (0-70% methanol/dichloromethane) afforded the title compound. 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ ppm 7.12 (dd, J=7.93, 1.53 Hz, 1H), 6.81-6.98 (m, 2H), 4.27-4.38 (m, 1H), 4.13-4.21 (m, 1H), 3.02-3.15 (m, 3H), 2.89-2.99 (m, 1H), 2.76-2.88 (m, 2H), 2.64-2.75 (m, 1H), 1.83-1.98 (m, 2H); MS (DCI+) m/z 283 (M+H)+.
