Aluminum chloride (0.18 g, 1.37 mmol) was suspended in CH2Cl2 (1 mL), and water (19 uL, 1.0 mmol) was added slowly at room temperature. The mixture was stirred for 5 minutes, and then cooled to 0° C. 3-{5-(Benzothiazol-2-ylmethoxy)-3-tert-butylsulfanyl-1-[4-(6-methoxy-pyridin-3-yl)-benzyl]-1H-indol-2-yl}-2,2-dimethyl-propionic acid ethyl ester (0.12 g, 0.17 mmol) was added in CH2Cl2 (1 mL), and the reaction was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours. Once no starting material was observed by tlc, water was added and the mixture was extracted with CH2Cl2. The combined organic layers were washed with water, dried over MgSO4, filtered, and concentrated. The residue was purified to give the desired product (H-1).
