Reaction Steps

To a solution of the product of Step 1 (680 mg, 1.31 mmol) in toluene (6.5 mL) was added Lawesson's reagent (530 mg, 1.31 mmol) and the mixture was heated to 100° C. for 20 hours and then cooled to rt then the mixture was concentrated in vacuo. Purification by chromatography on silica gel (100:0 to 50:50, hexanes:ethyl acetate) provided 461 mg (0.892 mmol, 68%) of 2-(1-{[tert-butyl(diphenyl)silyl]oxy}-2-methylpropan-2-yl)-5-(3-nitrophenyl)-1,3-thiazole as a colorless viscous oil.
