Reaction Steps

The product from Step 2 (87 mg, 0.17 mmol) was dissolved in methanol (2.9 ml) and 1 M aqueous sodium hydroxide (0.8 ml, 0.8 mmol) was added. The reaction was heated overnight at 100° C. The reaction was then cooled, acidified with hydrochloric acid (2 M in H2O, 0.4 mL) and then concentrated under reduced pressure to afford crude 2,2-dimethyl-4-[5-(3-methyl-5-{[4-(trifluoromethyl)pyrimidin-2-yl]amino}phenyl)-1,3-thiazol-2-yl]cyclohexanecarboxylic acid that was used in the next step without further purification.
