Procedure

The mixture of 4-chloro-7-(3,5-dimethyl-4-isoxazolyl)-6-(methoxy)-3-quinolinecarboxamide (for a preparation see Intermediate 40, 6 g, 18 mmol) was reacted with 2-aminomethylpyridine (2.5 eq, 4.23 g, 45 mmol) in CH3CN (100 ml) was stirred at 110° C. for 4 h. The reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo. The residue was partitioned between water and DCM. The organic layer was dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated to dryness to give 7-(3,5-dimethyl-4-isoxazolyl)-6-(methoxy)-4-[(2-pyridinylmethyl)amino]-3-quinoline carboxamide (5.84 g) which was used in the next step without purification.
