Procedure

Diisobutylaluminum hydride (1M in hexanes, 7.8 mL) was added to a solution of EXAMPLE 53D (0.89 g) in dichloromethane (30 mL) at 0° C., and the reaction was stirred for 20 minutes. The reaction was quenched by the slow addition of methanol, and then poured into 1M aqueous NaOH (50 mL). The mixture was extracted twice with ethyl acetate, and extracts were combined, washed with brine, dried over Na2SO4, filtered, and concentrated.
