Reaction Steps

To a solution of (6-chloro-5-(2-fluoro-5-methoxyphenyl)pyridin-2-yl)methanol (3.00 g) and tert-butylchlorodiphenylsilane (1.53 g) in DMF (7.0 mL) was added imidazole (1.53 g) at room temperature, and the mixture was stirred for 14 hr. Water was added to the reaction mixture, and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The extract was washed with saturated brine, and dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure to give the title compound (7.10 g) as a pale-yellow crude oil. This compound was used for the next step without further purification.
