At 0° C., NBS (11.94 g, 67.1 mmol) was added over 90 min to a soln. of 4-((2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolan-4-yl)methoxy)thiazole (13.75 g, 63.9 mmol) in MeCN (320 mL). The mixture was further stirred at 0° C. for 30 min, then, it was quenched by the addition of aq. 5% NaHCO3 and extracted with EtOAc. The comb. org. layers were washed with aq. 5% NaHCO3 and brine, dried over MgSO4, and conc. in vacuo.
