In a similar manner to that described for the preparation of 2-(3-(bromomethyl)-1H-indazol-1-yl)benzonitrile except in Step 1 the mixture was diluted with H2O and the product recrystallized from MeOH and in Step 2 1,2-dichoroethane was used in place of CCl4, 3-methyl-1H-indazole (1 g, 7.57 mmol)) and methyl 3-cyano-4-fluorobenzoate (1.36 g, 7.57 mmol) as a white solid.
