Methanesulfonyl chloride (160 μL, 2.07 mmol) was added to a mixture of (2-(difluoromethoxy)naphthalen-1-yl)methanol (387 mg, 1.73 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (8.63 mL) and TEA (505 μL, 3.62 mmol). After 20 h the mixture was diluted with CH2Cl2, washed with H2O, brine, dried over Na2SO4, filtered and the filtrate was concentrated to provide (2-(difluoromethoxy)naphthalen-1-yl)methyl methanesulfonate (342 mg) as a brown oil that was used without further purification.
