Reaction Steps
Substantially the same procedure as in Example 219 was repeated using a starting material, 7methoxybenzofuran-2-carboxylic acid, and 1-(S)-phenylethylamine to give N-[1-(S)-phenylethyl]-7-methoxybenzofuran-2-carboxamide (Compound 359a). Successively, it was formylated to give N-[1-(S)-phenylethyl]-4-formyl-7-methoxybenzofuran-2-carboxamide (Compound 359b), then compound 359b was reacted with methylamine hydrochloride to give compound 359 as a white solid.
