Sertraline base, (the compound of Preparation AA, 200 mg) was dissolved in hexane (1.5 mL) in a 10 mL reaction vial. The solution was heated to 40° C. Glacial acetic acid (41.2 μL) was added to the sertraline base solution. The reaction mixture was allowed to cool to room temperature and then granulate for one hour. The solids were filtered and dried in a vacuum oven at 40° C. for 72 hours. The yield was determined to be 90%. mp 126° C.
