1 ml of acetic anhydride was added to 5 ml of a solution of 350 mg of 8-aminomethyl-10-methoxymethyl-10H-pyrazino[2,3-b][1,4]benzothiazine in dichloromethane and the resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours. After adding diethyl ether, the precipitate thus formed was taken up by filtration to thereby give 350 mg of the title compound as yellow crystals.
